Job Summary

Petpals Darlington is an award-winning and dedicated pet care service provider, offering a wide range of services including cat and small animal visits, dog walking, and dog home boarding. Our mission is to ensure every pet receives the love, care, and attention they deserve.

We are seeking 2 new cat and small animal team visitor to join our dynamic award winning team with one candidate based in Darlington and one candidate based in either Ingleby Barwick or Yarm.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering a quality experience for our clients cats and small animals utilising our unique programme. The role requires a blend of excellent customer service skills, as well as a calm and assertive demeaner in the handling of cats and small animals.

You will be expected to drive between clients so access to a vehicle and a clean driving licence is essential. A generous private mileage allowance is payable.

Demand varies throughout the year but is especially busy over school holidays.

Duties

  • Visit clients houses respecting the operational protocols and provide/implement a care programmed designed for each pet .
  • Ensure all customer instructions regarding the care and management of their pets has been complied with.
  • Provide electronic customer feedback after every visit.
  • Handle and interact with all pets in accordance with the training provided, respecting the Petpals training protocols.

Hours of Work

This is a part-time permanent position working on a flexible basis.

Pay: £12.60 per hour

The service operates between 7am and 10am and 4pm until 7pm every day of the year.

You will be expected to work weekends and bank holidays as these are busy times for our service.

Experience

  • Have experience of looking after cats and small animals (owned or work related). (Essential)
  • Understanding of animal welfare requirements for cats and small animals in general (Essential)
  • Clean driving license with access to a vehicle (Essential)
  • Computer skills – able to work with Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel), confident with Apps and online systems applications (Essential)
  • Worked within pet services sector or similar. (Desirable)
  • Experience of online data entry systems. (Desirable)

Skills (All Essential)

  • Confident and competent in the handling of all cats and small animals, including welfare needs.
  • Willing and able to visit on weekends and bank holidays.
  • Confident around cats and small animals. Full training will be given.
  • Trustworthy, conscientious, flexible, and reliable.
  • Must be capable of effective time management and have efficient organisational skills.
  • Able to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Animal First Aid qualified (This is something we will arrange for you) (Desirable)
  • Relevant qualification in pet care/animal management/behaviour training. (Desirable)

Other Requirements

Clean driving license with access to a vehicle
