What is Dog Home Boarding or Doggy Boarding?

We offer a home doggy boarding service where your dog can stay in the home of one of our carefully selected and dedicated host families.

Our host families provide the magic ingredient needed to ensure your dog is settled in, cared for, receiving all the cuddles and home comforts they are used to, a real ‘home from home’ experience. Both Petpals and their host families will keep you updated with how things are going with regular photographs of their experience providing you with peace of mind so you can relax and enjoy your time away.

What do I need to provide?

  • You will need to take your dogs food, bowls, toys, beds, grooming equipment, throws and anything else you feel will make your dogs stay more like being at home.
  • In addition, in accordance with licencing requirements your dog must be fully vaccinated and up to date with preventative treatments.
  • We will need to see these documents in advance if your dogs stay with us. If your dog is staying with another dog they must also be up to date with kennel cough.

Who are Petpals Host Families?

  • All our host families are experienced dog lovers who have been licenced by the local authority so you can be confident they are the perfect people to provide our doggy boarding service.
  • Our host families are trained in canine first aid and supported by Petpals throughout.
  • When your dog first stays with a host family you will have a ‘meet and greet’ so you are completely relaxed about where your dog will be staying. This is especially important if a host family has their own dog, or your dog is staying with another carefully selected and matched dog.

Is my dog suitable for Doggy Boarding?

  • Petpals Doggy Boarding is suitable for dogs of all ages, but there are restrictions on dogs under 6 months old, and elderly dogs.
  • If your dog is sociable, loves people and enjoys the family life then Petpals Doggy Boarding will be ideal for them.
  • We regret we are unable to provide Doggy Boarding for dogs who are incontinent, not house trained or incapable of being left for short periods. Any dog in our care will not be left for longer than 3 hours in any 24-hour period.
