Introducing our Partner: Justyna – Emergency Mobile Vet (and Why You Might Need Her This Summer)
24th July 2025
At Petpals Darlington we always strive to go above and beyond for our clients and their pets. That’s why we’re proud to partner with Justyna – a local, independent emergency vet who shares our commitment to exceptional animal care.
While many of you already know Justyna AKA Emergency Mobile Vet for her calm and capable support in emergencies, she’s also becoming a crucial contact for dog owners this summer for reasons many vets won’t tell you.
🚨 The Summer Vaccination Catch Many Owners Don’t Know About
Vaccination boosters are a routine part of pet care and it is a legal requirement for dogs to have up to date vaccinations during home boarding and kennel stays. However, a quiet change across many local vet practices could cause big problems, especially if you’re heading away this summer.
Most people don’t realise that a huge number of UK vet practices, including many in Darlington, are now owned by venture capital firms. These groups don’t just run the practices; they also control the supply chains including drug and vaccine production.
The knock-on effect? A widespread shift from using the L2 vaccine to the L4 vaccine. Not because it’s better, simply because L2 is no longer being produced at scale.
🫵 Why That Matters to You
The key thing dog owners need to know is that if your dog has previously had the L2 vaccine and your vet now uses L4, your dog will not be considered fully vaccinated after just one booster.
Instead, they’ll need an initial L4 jab PLUS a second dose 4 weeks later to be officially protected.
That means if your dog’s booster is due in July, and your home boarding booking is in early August, they may not be vaccinated in time which could cause serious disruption to your plans.
To make matters worse, most chain-owned practices including many across Darlington aren’t informing customers about the change in advance of vaccination appointments.
💡 The Simple Solution
We have partnered with Emergency Mobile Vet to ensure we’re able to help our customers avoid this issue altogether.
Justyna has access to a supply of the L2 vaccine, meaning:
- If your dog has previously been vaccinated with L2, they can receive a standard booster without needing a second jab.
- You avoid the stress, extra cost, and tight turnaround.
- Your dog is holiday-ready on time, without any surprise delays.

📌 What You Should Do Next
If you’re not sure which vaccine your dog has had in the past or when their booster is due, get in touch with us as soon as possible. We’ll talk you through your options and, if needed, connect you with Justyna to ensure you get the right vaccine for your dog’s history.
We’ll also be sharing this information on our social media channels, but we wanted to share it with you, our valued customers, first. Because we believe in keeping pet owners informed, prepared, and supported.
