22nd October 2018
L to R: Vicki Small, Angie Tienkamp, Sarah Mount, Tony Palmer with their son Jayden with Mollie, Rolo, Flash and Daisy!
We are delighted to announce that Petpals Bournemouth has recently purchased neighbouring territory Petpals Ferndown and Wimborne, doubling the size of the business.
Dog Walking and Dog Boarding
Like all Petpals franchisees, Angie Tienkamp and Tony Palmer who own Petpals Bournemouth & Poole, walk dogs and visit puppies, cats and other small caged animals in their homes, while their owners are at work or on holiday.
Ferndown and Wimborne
The couple have recently purchased the neighbouring territory, Petpals Ferndown and Wimborne, which will effectively double the size of their business and see them care for pets in a 20 mile wide area from Horton to Sandbanks and from Sturminster Marshall to West Southbourne.
Angie and Tony bought their first Petpals business in 2016 building it up so successfully that when the opportunity to expand into a neighbouring territory presented itself, they felt confident of investing in the new venture.
Consumer spending on pets
According to the latest PFMA report* 45% of households in the UK have a pet and a survey by Statista.com* states that ‘Consumer spending on pets and related products in the UK in 2017 was approx £4.62 billion. A figure not to be sniffed at.
Says Angie,
‘We bought Petpals Bournemouth in March 2016 as an ongoing business. At the time it was doing well but not reaching its full potential; we knew we could turn it around and make a real success of it.’
She continued,
‘Luckily for us, Bournemouth and Poole are full of pet lovers, many of whom have to work and if they’re lucky even go on holiday, so we knew the business was there, we just had to market ourselves properly and build up a really solid reputation which, two and a half years later, I’m pleased to say we’ve done.’
Tony, who works in the business alongside Angie concurred,
‘Angie and our full-time employee Sarah have done such a great job building up Petpals Bournemouth; they now walk approximately 20 dogs every day and visit up to 20 cats and other small animals in their homes each week, so I have absolutely no doubt they will make a huge success of the new territory Petpals Ferndown and Wimborne too. She’s recently recruited one new member of staff Vicki, and I’m sure more will follow soon.’
Going The Extra Mile
Angie puts the success of the business, in a growing market place, down to their reputation for professionalism and for constantly going that extra mile for customers, all of which she manages whilst being a mum to five year old Jayden and cats Treacle, Millie and Pandora.
Petpals Bournemouth was recently voted as one of ‘Three Best Rated Dog Walkers’ in Bournemouth by independent review company ‘Three Best Rated’.
Summing up Angie said,
‘I’m so lucky to be running a business that I love, spending my days with cats and dogs who are thrilled to see me, out in the fresh air, keeping fit and healthy and somehow managing to fit it all around my young family. Buying this new territory is going to be hard work but we’re looking forward to the challenge.’
Petpals Bournemouth and Petpals Ferndown and Wimborne offer dog walking, pet sitting, cat and small pet visits, puppy visits and a pet taxi service in their fully converted Petpals van. For more information please visit their website.
