Top performers recognised at annual Petpals conference
12th February 2019
Last month Petpals franchisees gathered together in Northamptonshire, for our annual conference.
Held as centrally as possible to take into consideration the distances some will have to travel, the weekend consists of presentations, discussions, sharing best practice and training on how franchisees can grow and better their Petpals businesses.
Kevin Thackrah, MD of Petpals said,
‘The annual conference is a key event in the Petpals calendar and we know that those who attend get a huge amount out of it. With few of us under 40 these days, none of us can claim to be ‘digital natives’ but it is a crucial part of running any business in 2019, which is why we employ full time social media, PR and digital experts to work with us all year round and who then come to the conference to make sure our franchisees are doing all that they can to maximise their digital footprint. We discuss SEO, click through rates, reach and engagement and give them ideas for simple PR and marketing ideas they can carry out back in their
territories. We were also delighted to welcome back guest speaker Trevor Cooper, a lawyer who specialises in dog law, to update the network on current legislation, particularly pertaining to the new dog boarding licences.
‘We also encourage our franchisees to share best practice with each other and much is learned over a drink at the end of the day or during our formal dinner on the Saturday night. We try to choose a hotel with a spa so franchisees can enjoy a well-deserved swim and a sauna after a hard day’s conferencing too. For many it is a rare weekend away so we try to make it a treat as well.
‘It isn’t a coincidence that our top performing franchisees are always in the room at the conference, not only to receive awards for their performance but also because they acknowledge the importance of the event plus they genuinely want to get to know and help our newer franchisees who may be attending for the first time. Relationships are built and connections made that will support them enormously through their early days and we are always very proud of that Petpals’ spirit we see.’
The winners at this year’s awards were:
Most Improved Franchise Performance: Peter Lea, Petpals Bracknell & Wokingham
Top Performing Franchisees: David and Sallyann Gray, Petpals Darlington & Yarm
Special Award: Peter Martin, Petpals Chelmsford & Maldon
Many thanks to all who attended and we look forward to seeing you again next year.
